WHAT IS WEVC?

Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging

Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) is the function of wirelessly charging a vehicle using resonant inductive magnetic coupling between a transmitting ground pad and receiving pad fitted to the vehicle.

Current is passed into the ground pad from a power source and that power is transmitted across the air gap to the vehicle pad.

WEVC Performance

Lumen Freedom have developed a WEVC System with an impressive ≥92% efficiency in power transmission. The technology is both efficient and safe, not only meeting but exceeding the highest standards for performance. The system adopts the use of patented Double D coil technology which achieves a higher flux density concentration than single coil systems.

High Clearance

Despite the lightweight and compact design of the WEVC system it comes equipped with a high clearance capacity (300mm+).

This makes the system compatible with all vehicle types.

Alignment

One issue people often associate with WEVC is vehicle alignment. With this in mind Lumen has developed a system with a high tolerance to misalignment. In addition, an intelligent alignment system guides the driver with simple visual cues.

All The Charge You Need

Whether it’s a plug-in-hybrid with a small battery capacity or a full-electric vehicle we have the solution. Our automated scalable system has the ability to charge at levels between 3.7KW and 22KW. This lower power suits long charges overnight while the higher power enables a quick powerful charge when out and about.

Intelligent & Safe

The adoption of the most rigorous testing & design standards have resulted in a system protected by advanced safety protocols. The Freedom system incorporates Living Object Protection (L.O.P) and Foreign Object Detection (F.O.D) to an SAE standard. F.O.D can detect an object as small as a paper clip.

Static, Semi-Dynamic, Dynamic

Wireless electric vehicle charging is not simply limited to stationery vehicles (static charging). Lumen’s WEVC system is capable of charging moving vehicles meaning the potential applications are endless. Thus reducing “range anxiety”.
