Melbourne, Australia – Lumen Freedom, a member of the privately-owned Lumen Group of companies today announces the release of an 11 kW Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) system. The system boasts a ‘single box’ Vehicle Assembly (VA), whereby the secondary coil, power electronics and communication system are all contained within a single enclosure, facilitating superior volumetric efficiency, cost efficiency and cooling efficiency.
The 11kW Ground Assembly (GA), which includes the power supply unit and ground pad (primary coil), is backwards compatible to facilitate the use of VAs of up to 11 kW, and to 300mm in VA coil ground clearance.
Lumen Freedom will be manufacturing WEVC systems at a purpose-built factory in Wuxi, China – adding to the group’s global presence which includes five manufacturing plants.
“Following a number of years in development, we are delighted to announce the release of Lumen Freedom’s globally certified 11 kW wireless charging system, which we believe will be the first of its kind to have been designed and manufactured by an IATF 16949 accredited automotive supplier”.
Said Jonathan Evans, CEO of the Lumen Group.
Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging is a simple solution for charging Electric Vehicles (EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), without the fuss of having to plug-in. The efficiency levels of the Lumen Freedom WEVC system are comparable to plug-in or conductive charging systems.
